Well it sounds like Thanksgiving was really fun back at home. Here in Portugal we did our own little Thanksgiving dinner. Instead of having turkey or mashed potatoes and gravy we went Mexican style. We made enchiladas and we also made our own ice-cream. We then got a little table and put a cloth over it and put a small plant and a candle on the table to make it a little bit more fancy. It was a really good Thanksgiving dinner. The next day the senior missionary couple brought us REAL thanksgiving leftovers that they had for dinner. You will see in the pictures the difference of our dinner to our leftovers.
Funny story for this week: Elder Doxey my companion went to the bathroom and closed the door. Well when he was done he went to open the door and it wouldn’t open. Somehow the door locked itself I don't know how but it did, probably because it is a really old Portuguese door. So he ended up being in there for 1 ½ hours. This is also a very spiritual story as well. After we had done all that we could do we all said a prayer to ask Heavenly Father to help us open the door. And no later than 10 min we got the door open. How we got it open we don't know. All we did was we put the screwdriver in the lock and giggled the handle and it opened. Weird thing is we had already done the before we said the prayer. And then after the prayer we did it again and it opened. This is just another example on how prayer works. And how prayer really does work and that God is watching over us.
As you all know lately I have been having a really hard time understanding the language. But that is starting to change. I can feel all of your prayers for trying to help me learn the language faster. I have been studying the language a lot and I am speaking it everywhere I go. Out in the streets and even in the house. I know that God is helping me and by me trying my best and doing everything that I can to learn the language He will help me even more. As I am writing this email I am currently in the Jeffers car using Elder Jeffers laptop while driving up to Evora for our P-day. We are going to a church that is made completely out of bones. Also some stones that have been around sense the time before Christ, about 6,000 years before Christ they say. So pictures of those will come soon.
I’m back and man I had such a fun P-day. The church of bones was awesome and kind of creepy. I was reading some of the descriptions of it and it said that it is made out of real human bones. Pretty scary, right. There is also a really big church that is part of it as well. They were working on it trying to restore some of it so we couldn't look at all of it, but if any of you want to search it up to see some good pictures of it the building is called San Francisco Church. It is located in Evora, Portugal. After that we went to the really old stones that are away from the city of Evora. Along the way we saw wild peacocks and wild hogs. We also saw horses and got to pet them which was really cool. So the stones where right next to a cork plantation where they have a ton of cork trees. There were a lot of those stones where we went and some of them even had markings on them but where very faint because of the years of erosion. On some stones you could still see the markings. I hope you all enjoy my email. If any of you want to see my past emails or pictures that I have taken on the mission my dad does a blog for me and this is the website. www.eldertylerrusnellmissionblog.weebly.com He does a fantastic job keeping track of my email and such. I love you all so much and hope you have a fantastic day. Remember to always have a smile on all of your bright faces.
