Well yesterday was my birthday and I am now 19. That is so weird I don’t feel like I am 19, I feel younger. Well I had a very good birthday. After church and lunch Elder Doxey the Jeffers and I had some cake that Elder Doxey made for me and some ice cream the Jeffers brought with them. It was very yummy. I even had a little candle I was able to blow out and make a wish. Later we visited some less active people around Beja with the Jeffers which was very good.
This week Elder Doxey and I have been teaching a family. The mom's name is Fatima and she loves the church and wants to learn more. The dad (Nunu), daughter (Christiana), and son (Nunu Jr.) are slowly showing interest to learn more about the gospel. Fatima is awesome. This Sunday we were really trying hard to get their family to go to church because it is hard for them to wake up in the morning, they are lazy. But Fatima woke up and came to church all by herself which was amazing. We didn't need to go and wake her up. I can see this family being baptized, they have lots of potential. We have also been working with Telma and Lara. Telma is the one who can’t hear and Lara is her niece. We also got Telma to finally go to church. Her baby has been sick so they didn't want to go because he was sick but he is all better now so they went to church and they loved it. She told us through sign language that she felt the spirit and wants to go back to church. Here is some info for you people that will clear something up. So in order for investigators to be baptized they need to go to church at leaset twice and that is really hard sometimes because the Portugal people are really lazy sometimes. So when they don’t go to church we have to wait another week for them to be baptized. We try really hard for them to come to church.
My dad has a couple of questions that he wants me to answer so I will do that right now.
1. Strangest food you’ve eaten so far? Jellyfish
2. Best thing about Portugal? The History / The language
3. Biggest thing that surprised you about your mission? How many people that smoke here, almost everyone smokes.
I hope that answered some of your questions dad. I know it’s just a few but if any of you have any questions you want to know about my mission or Portugal you can ask me at ([email protected]). I would love to hear from you guys I love reading peoples emails it makes my day so much better. I will also respond to you guys. If you email me I will respond to you. I hope everyone back home is having a good time. I miss you all and pray for all of you every day! Just to let everyone know the language is really good now. I can speak Portuguese now and understand it so you guys don’t have to worry about me anymore. I have felt all your prayers for me and I have been very blessed with the gift of tongues. Thank you all for everything you do for me and my family I love you all so much. Remember to always have the Spirit with you and to remember that you are all sons and daughters of a loving Heavenly Father and He loves all of you so very much.
With all my love,
Elder Rusnell
